Rebel Red: About Rebel Red

"... a singer, guitarist and composer of prodigious talent...she had the audience in the palm of her hand. Her tunes were all seamlessly performed and, to put it simply, Red really rocked the house..." Joe Karr, Times Herald Record

Red Peralta's passionate performance entices the audience to let go and share the experience...A bluesy, mystical voice, driving acoustic guitar and irresistably funky stompbox create a lean solo sound, and Red also appears frequently with the Rebel Red Band.   Press reviews have likened her voice to Eartha Kitt, k.d. lang and  Grace Slick; her songs have been compared to Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bonnie Raitt, Tommy James and the Shondells, and Levon Helm.

A charismatic singer and prolific songwriter, Red's songs are populated by hobos, flowers, telepathy, motherhood, eternity, war, peace, housework, reincarnation, insanity, rage, childhood, old age, rivers, oceans, stars and a few X boyfriends....

Red was born in New York City, but grew up in England. She cut her performing teeth playing clubs in Europe for several years, before returning to the USA where she collaborated with the late producer Steve Burgh (John Prine, Willie Nelson, Steve Forbert), who produced her first album, "Water Planet", and introduced her to a family of East Coast folk and roots musicians, some of whom she still works with today.

Red took some time off to raise 2 boys and returned in July, 2008  with the album, "Sex, Religion, Politics", featuring guitarist Jeff Pevar (Ray Charles, Crosby, Stills and Nash) and saxophonist Erik Lawrence (Levon Helm).

Since then Red has been booked at  festivals, concerts and coffeehouses in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Texas. She has shared the stage with acts as diverse as Jefferson Starship, Country Joe MacDonald, Dire Straits, They Might be Giants and Chris Smither.

Red's next CD will be released in February 2011 featuring David Mowry  (Beaucoup Blue).
